A new app will keep UAE clubbers in the loop about parties by sending them regular notifications on their phone.
iClub ae, designed by the Dubai mobile app company AppWorks, was launched this month and is in the process of signing up nightclubs in Dubai and Abu Dhabi to send updates about events, theme nights and special offers.
The creators say the app has already been downloaded by more than 2,500 people.
“It’s like a breaking-news app – but for people who go clubbing,” says Ghaith O, the managing director of AppWorks. “Dubai has a vibrant nightlife and we noticed people want to be updated about what’s happening in town and where the special offers are.”
He says the app gives nightclubs an opportunity to move away from cluttered marketing and pitch their offers directly to customers, while providing the app’s users with the latest news about what’s happening on the scene.
“There is a lot of competition in this business,” says Ghaith. “Every month a new nightclub opens and they claim to be the best. But a lot of these places become popular through word of mouth and the app allows that.”
The clubs already registered with the app include Above Lounge, Cielo Sky Lounge, Boudoir Dubai, Morjana Dubai and Serai Club.
Users can turn on notifications for the clubs they are interested in and share updates through the app to other social-networking sites.
Subscribers can also get contact details, location maps and make a reservation directly through the app. The app still has a relatively basic interface, but Ghaith says they are working hard to include more features in the coming months.
“We are creating features such as user profiles, so that they can communicate with friends within the app and be able to share their experience and review the clubs, as well.”
