Jennifer Lopez’s risqué Mawazine Festival performance in Morocco has been criticised by some of the country’s conservative elements and parliamentarians. Most of the online ire was not directed at the Lopez herself, but at the decision by public broadcaster 2M to air the two hour concert.

Communications minister Mustapha El Khalfi, a member of the ruling Islamist Justice and Development party, reportedly tweeted that “what was broadcast is unacceptable and goes against broadcasting law.”

He called for an investigation on the decision to broadcast the performance. Other concerts broadcast on 2M during the week were by Pharrell Williams and Sean Paul on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

The Mawazine Festival runs until Saturday.
