Lindsay Lohan was arrested for assaulting another woman in a New York club on Thursday and also charged in connection with a car crash in California - a double legal blow that could land her back in jail. The 26-year-old actress is still on probation for last year's jewellery theft. Lohan was released hours after her arrest and ordered to appear in court at a later date. In California, she was charged with three misdemeanours for lying to police about whether she crashed into a lorry on a motorway in June. - AFP
Gotye wins big at Aussie awards
Gotye took home the Album of the Year at Australia's Aria music awards on Thursday. The album, Making Mirrors, features the singer's hit Somebody That I Used to Know. He also won for Best Pop Release, Best Live Act and Best Male Artist. This year's gala featured appearances by Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj and Russell Brand. Tyler addresses Minaj's 'racist' claim
Steven Tyler is apologising in response to Nicki Minaj's claim that he's a racist. Minaj, a new judge on AmericanIdol, took offence to comments by Tyler, a former Idol judge, in which he said that Bob Dylan would probably be immediately dismissed from this year's show, which premieres on January 16. She called the comment racist and fired an expletive at the Aerosmith frontman. In an interview with the Canadian programme eTalk, Tyler addressed Minaj: "I apologise if it was taken wrong, Nicki. I am the farthest from a racist. Maybe I spoke out of turn." Minaj is performing in Dubai's Meydan Racecourse on December 28. - AP
Psy brings Gangnam Style to Hong Kong
The South Korean pop sensation Psy was the big winner at the Mnet Asian Music Awards in Hong Kong on Friday. The 34-year-old not only performed his infectious tune Gangnam Style at the Korean music awards show, he also picked up gongs for Song of the Year, Best Music Video, Best Dance Performance - Solo and International Favourite Artist. "I'm living a dream right now," the singer said. The show also featured the boy band sensation Super Junior and the girl group Sistar as well as IU, Wonder Girls and TVXQ. - AFP
MacFarlane announces Family Guy film
Seth MacFarlane made a surprise appearance at the University of California, Los Angeles, on Wednesday to announce that Family Guy could become a feature-length film. He said he's already come up with a concept. "It will happen at some point," he told an undergraduate film class at an appearance that is part of mtvU's Stand In series, which brings celebrities to colleges as guest lecturers. The 2013 Oscars host also announced a filmmaking contest sponsored by the Academy Awards that will allow winning college students to appear on the February 24 show as trophy carriers. - AP
