Katy Perry could help make your Teenage Dream of becoming a singer a reality: the pop star is starting her own record label. Perry announced the launch of Metamorphosis Music on Tuesday. It's a joint venture with her current label, Capitol Records. The first to sign with Perry's label is the pop singer Ferras, who released his Perry executive-produced EP on Tuesday. The five-song self-titled effort includes the track Legends Never Die, which features Perry. Ferras will join Perry for the North American leg of her Prismatic World Tour, which begins on Sunday in Raleigh, North Carolina. It finishes on October 11 in Houston, Texas. Perry and Ferras met in 2007 when they were both signed to Capitol. Capitol is one of many labels under Universal Music Group, home to Def Jam and Republic Records. – AP
Ness Wadia’s father threatened in wake of Zinta’s allegations
The Indian industrialist Nusli Wadia has said he has received threatening calls from "an underworld don". The complaint has come on the heels of the actress Preity Zinta's claims that Wadia's son and her ex-boyfriend, Ness Wadia, "molested" her at an Indian Premier League cricket game on May 30. Nusli Wadia's complaint has been forwarded to the anti-extortion cell of the Mumbai Crime Branch, which is yet to establish a connection between the calls and Zinta's allegations. – The National staff
Sidharth Malhotra to make TV debut with show on Bollywood baddies
Ahead of the release of his new thriller Ek Villain, the actor Sidharth Malhotra is ready for his small-screen debut as the host of Ek Villain Ek Daastan, a programme that profiles some of Bollywood's most loved bad boys, including Amrish Puri, Amjad Khan, Gulshan Grover, Shakti Kapoor, Ranjeet, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Sanjay Dutt, Danny Denzongpa, Prem Chopra, Ajit and Pran. The show will be broadcast on the Indian entertainment channel ZoOm starting on Monday. – IANS
The Situation charged in fight at tanning salon
The former Jersey Shore cast member Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino was arrested after a fight at a tanning salon. Sorrentino was charged with simple assault after the afternoon confrontation at the Boca salon in Middletown Township, New Jersey, which he and his family own and operate. He was released on bail. Police went to the salon at around 2pm after a report of a fight in progress. Sorrentino is due to return to reality TV this summer in the TV Guide Network's The Sorrentinos, which will follow his family as they try to open their own tanning salon. – AP
Charges against Paul Simon and Edie Brickell dropped
Prosecutors are dropping a disorderly conduct case against Paul Simon and his wife, Edie Brickell, related to a fight at the couple’s home. The 72-year-old Simon and 48-year-old Brickell had been scheduled to be in court on Tuesday, but did not appear. Prosecutors told a judge they were declining to pursue the case, meaning the charges will be dropped and eventually erased after 13 months. The couple fought on April 26 inside a cottage on their property in Connecticut, police said. – AP
