Indie favourite, Loaded, returns after two year hiatus

Dubai’s much-loved indie night, Loaded, returns after almost two years next Friday, August 14, with a one-off event at its former stomping ground, Casa Latina at Ibis Al Barsha, and has teamed up with local indie stalwart Step On for the night for good measure.

Loaded ran for two years until late 2013 at the Barsha venue before ill health forced DJ and promoter Andy Buchan off the decks, and with the small matter of family additions and life in general following on, he hasn’t managed to put Loaded back on the scene since, as yet.

Step On has in large part been carrying the flag for the city’s indie fans in the interim, so it should be fun to see the two face off. For my money, despite being Mancunian and risking having my passport revoked, any night named after a classic Primal Scream track already has the edge over one named after a track by Manchester’s eighth best band, The Happy Mondays.

Expect to hear tracks by both the above, alongside indie, hip hop and dance favourites and classics from the likes of The Beatles and The Jacksons, with promotions, an up-for-it crowd and free entry from 9pm till 2.45am all night adding to the fun for those who want to have a good time and get loaded.
