Howard Stern on Late Show job: ‘My plate is full’

Howard Stern is just one of the names industry spectators are floating around as a possible replacement for David Letterman. At least for now, though, the long-time radio personality says of the idea, "My plate is full." Stern addressed the late-night TV talk-show host's retirement announcement while arriving in New York on Friday for America's Got Talent auditions. Stern is one of the judges on the show. The 60-year-old stressed Letterman's impact on late-night TV, saying he is sad to see Letterman leave. Stern said he enjoyed his appearances on the Late Show with David Letterman. "I've been doing the show for years and years and I've had so many funny, great times with him that, you know, it'll be weird not to have him there."

Anupam Kher to lead acting class at IIFA 2014

The actor Anupam Kher will conduct an acting workshop as part of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Weekend and Awards in the United States later this month. Kher's directorial venture, a short film, will also be screened. IIFA is scheduled to make its US debut at Tampa Bay, Florida, from April 23 to 26 this year. The world premiere of Kher's directorial debut, I Went Shopping for Robert De Niro, will be held on the second day, after he hosts an acting workshop for the students of the University of South Florida (USF). The screening will be open to celebrities from the Indian film fraternity. Kher's film is a tribute to the Hollywood actor Robert De Niro, who featured alongside Kher in the 2012 film Silver Linings Playbook. – IANS

García Márquez feeling better, wants to go home

The Nobel-prize-winning novelist Gabriel García Márquez on Saturday was feeling better after treatment in a Mexico City hospital. The 87-year-old Colombian, who has lived in Mexico for more than three decades, was admitted as a precaution last week suffering from dehydration and a lung infection. "He is doing well now and he is eager to get home," his son Gonzalo García Barcha told reporters. He said it looked likely his father would be released tomorrow. García Márquez is seen as one of the finest writers of the 20th century. His masterpiece One Hundred Years of Solitude has sold millions of copies and been translated into 35 languages. – AFP

Web’s grumpiest cat celebrates her birthday

Grumpy Cat has hit her terrible twos. The top dog in internet cat stardom, known for her downward smile and bugged-out baby blues, spent her birthday, on Friday, touring New York City. Hollywood is where the feline is bound, with a movie project in the works to add to her pile of endorsements and licensing deals that include her scowling face on limited-edition bags of Friskies Party Mix treats and her own line of "Grumppuccino" bottled coffee drinks. So who will voice the cat we love to caption? Grumpy's not saying, nor are her humans, the brother-sister team of Tabatha and Bryan Bundesen.
