From spills to food spoilage, refrigerators need to be cleaned out weekly to ensure that everything stays fresh, neat and pleasant.

Schedule a specific day for refrigerator cleaning. If you make this a regular task, it will be easier each time. Be on the lookout for spills, and try to clear these immediately.

Fridge doors should be cleaned at least once a week, because they’re the part that you make most contact with.

Whether you choose to empty out your refrigerator monthly, yearly or seasonally, it needs to be done. Take out shelves and drawers, and soak them in baking soda and warm water. Clean fridge walls with the same mixture.

Putting all cooked meals into containers will reduce the chances of spills and keep food smells contained. Also be sure to wipe off condiments and other liquids in containers before replacing them.

To keep your fridge smelling good, insert a tray of ground coffee beans, activated charcoal or sliced lemon.

No one wants to move their fridge and find out what’s behind it. But make sure to do this every six months or so.
