Regardless of how careful you are, your clothes are always going to be subjected to the rough and tumble of everyday life. From pen marks to make-up residue, there will always be something threatening to irreversibly stain your coveted fashion items.
Luckily, there are home remedies to keep your clothes looking relatively new, without having to splash out on weekly dry-cleaning.
Foundation and lipstick are two common stains, but the strategy most women will turn to – attempting to rub the stain off – is a common mistake. All this will do is embed the stain further into the fabric. Instead, take a piece of tape and lay it over the stain. Scratch, don’t rub, the top of the tape – using your fingernail – and pull the tape off. Repeat until the entire stain is removed.
If you find a pen mark on your jeans, spray a bit of hairspray directly onto the stain. Blot the stain with a clean piece of cotton until the ink is entirely off the fabric. Rinse with cold water.
As a side note, try this alternative to washing jeans. Place your denim in a large bag, along with a dryer sheet, in the freezer for three or four days to kill any lingering bacteria.
