Holly to Bolly: Led Zeppelin not guilty of plagiarising guitar riff from Stairway to Heaven

Rock legends Led Zeppelin have been found not guilty in a trial accusing them of plagiarism. In a copyright infringement trial in Los Angeles, the English band were accused of stealing a guitar riff from the American group Spirit for their classic 1971 hit Stairway to Heaven. After a week-long trial, a jury found that while Led Zeppelin's singer Robert Plant and guitarist Jimmy Page had access to Spirit's 1967 song Taurus, that the riff they were accused of taking was not intrinsically similar to the opening chords of Stairway. Led Zeppelin are still one of the top selling rock acts of all time – Reuters
