Hekayah at NYUAD Art Centre returns just in time for UAE National Day

The festival of Hekayah is back for its fifth year, offering a celebration of the UAE's culture

Creatives from around the world will come together next week to celebrate the rich culture and heritage of the UAE.

Part of NYUAD Arts Centre's 2019 season, Hekayah, The Story returns for its fifth year with a select and diverse group of UAE creatives, who through poetry, prose and song, will come together to celebrate the country's arts scene.

Hekayah means "the story" in Arabic.

Held as part of the UAE's National Day celebrations, 10 talented artists from across the world will descend on Abu Dhabi to speak about heritage and identity.

Emirati spoken word artist Salem Al Attas will host the evening. It will also feature Emirati spoken word poet Maitha AlSuwaidi; fiction writer Joey Bui, who is Vietnamese-Australian; award-winning Indian poet, novelist and dancer Tishani Doshi; Hakeem Kemet, a spoken word poet from the US; poet Zoe Patterson, from the UAE and Canada, and singer Baljit Kumar, from India, alongside many more.

The show is free to enter, and takes place at NYUAD Art Centre's East Plaza, on Tuesday, November 26 at 7pm.
