Guide to dressing from indoors to outdoors

It’s a common dilemma for UAE residents: at work, the AC is turned up high; outside, it’s scorching. We’re left clueless on what to wear daily. So here’s a guide on how to dress for the freezing indoors and warm outdoors — from head to toe, with just seven items.

* Women

Carrying cool, casual layers through summer is tricky business. The key is in choosing the right fabrics and cuts. Loose crop tops paired with A-line skirts and peg-leg silk trousers allow for a breeze, while chiffon and lace jackets are the perfect breathable outer layer. Small earrings and open toe shoes or sandals won’t feel constricting if your body puffs up from the heat. Be sure to keep a scarf handy in your bag for chilly A/C draughts.

* Men

For gents, it’s easy peasy. Inside your workplace, throw a cardigan over your shirt, then finish it off with a dapper blazer. Before stepping outside, simply remove the outer layers and tuck out your short-sleeved shirt. Feel free to remove your socks, too. To complete your off-duty look, put on a cap and a pair of sunnies.
