Quai d'Orsay, Bernard Tavernier, January 29-February 4
Tavernier, one of the biggest names in French cinema, turns his hand to this adaptation of the award-winning graphic novel by Abel Lanzac, a former government speechwriter who uses his past experience to gleefully lampoon his erstwhile political paymasters. Few pillars of contemporary French political society escape Tavernier’s ire in a hilarious yet sobering contemporary satire.
Ernest and Celestine, Benjamin Renner, February 5-11
Oscar-nominated family fun when Ernest, (a bear who also happens to be a musician and clown) takes Celestine (an orphaned mouse who has fled her rodent brethren to escape a career in dentistry) under his wing. It’s never that simple though, and their blossoming friendship causes consternation among both sets of woodland creatures.

Three teenagers start a campaign against the growing tide of intolerance and racist violence in 1980s France. Despite encountering cynicism and resistance, the three successfully bring 100,000 citizens of all colours, creeds and social backgrounds to march 1,000 kilometres in harmony.

A tense thriller in which a seasoned cop tries to solve a series of seemingly perfect murders, only to find the evidence keeps leading him to a blind man who couldn’t possibly have committed the crimes. Or could he?

The ubiquitous romantic comedy on the list. Alice is desperate to be editor-in-chief of Rebel magazine, but her colleagues think she's too stuck up. She notices their attitudes to her change when young student Balthazar comes on the scene, so fakes an unlikely romance in pursuit of her goal. Hilarity, naturally, ensues.
