Children are in for a treat at the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature next year. Famous British children’s literature writers Julia Donaldson and David Walliams will be in town for storytime sessions at the festival in March, next year.
The award-winning writers are part of an international line-up of children’s authors and illustrators attending, including Philip Ardagh, Steve Cole, John Dougherty, Michael Foreman, Satoshi Kitamura, Josh Lacey, Sahar Naja Mahfouz, James Mayhew and Michael Morpurgo.
Donaldson has wrote more than 184 children's books and was the UK Children's Laureate from 2011 to 2013. The 66-year-old writer and performer will be bringing characters from her classical tales The Grufallo, Room on the Broom and The Snail and the Whale to life at the festival.
Walliams, whose books have been translated into 40 languages, was awarded Children's Book of the Year at the National Book Awards, for Ratburger. The writer and actor of the comedy series Little Britain (2003-2006) has sold more than 2.2 million books in the UK and 200,000 copies worldwide.
