The Swiss photographer Fabian Oefner is bringing his vivid works to Yas Viceroy in the capital
Photographs by the contemporary Swiss artist Fabian Oefner will be on show at Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi from next week.
Oefner, who is famous for joining art and science in his work, is bringing his latest collection of images to the Light Box Gallery in Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi, which will be free to the public.
The 30-year-old artist uses the scientific principles of centrifugal force, magnetic fields and chemical compound mixing to create his photographs. He is also known for experimenting with timed flash to capture the exact moment when paint disperses, to create his vivid works.
“Being an artist for me means understanding the world more clearly,” says Oefner, who is also well-known on the TED Talks circuit, where guest speakers explore contemporary ideas in science and culture.
“What I’m trying to do as a photographer and as an artist is to bring the world of art and science together. Whether there’s an image of a soap bubble, a universe made of tiny little beads of oil paint or paint that is moving by centrifugal forces, I’m always trying to link these two fields together. They both respond to their surroundings in very different ways.”
Oefner, who has been exhibited in the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, France and China, has also contributed to several international advertisement campaigns and art projects. The artist recently visited the Ferrari headquarters in Maranello, Italy, to find inspiration in the company’s 2015 California T model for his next work.
• The 17th edition of Crossroads – Fluid Dynamics at the Light Box Gallery in Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi has been organised by Swiss Art Gate UAE and the Sharjah Department of Culture and Information. The exhibition opens on October 28 and runs until February 14. All artwork is for sale. For more information, email info@swissartgateuae.com
