The first two headliners of the upcoming Dubai Music Week have been announced — Ellie Goulding and Thirty Seconds to Mars.

Pop starlet Goudling will perform at the second edition of the event on Thursday September 24. Meanwhile the previously announced Thirty Seconds to Mars gig, a day later (September 25), has been officially confirmed as being part of the festival.

A further two headliners will be announced to perform at Dubai World Trade Centre on September 23 and 26.

Goulding last visited the emirates to play at Sandance NYE in December 2012.

The British star, 28, has clocked up close to 30 million record sales, known for UK No 1 hits Burn and Love Me Like You Do.

Goulding recorded a short message to UAE fans here.

Sci-fi themed US rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars are led by Hollywood actor Jared Leto, on lead vocals and guitar, and brother Shannon on drums.

The trio were initially set to perform in April as part of the Middle East Film & Comic Con. However, as previously reported, the rescheduled September date has been brought under the Dubai Music Week banner.

According to sources, each of the festival’s four concert nights will host a big headline act of a different genre: rock, pop, urban and Arabic. With the pop and rock names seemingly already announced, we can hope to hear details of an urban and Arabic artist shortly.

Founded by Quincy Jones in 2013, the first edition of Dubai Music Week featured a range of exhibitions, talks, seminars and live performances.

This 2015 incarnation is led by Live Nation Middle East in partnership with Dubai World Trade Centre.

Tickets for both concerts start at Dh295. Thirty Seconds to Mars tickets are on sale now from www.dubaimusicweek.ae or www.ticketmaster.ae, and Ellie Goulding tickets are expected to go on sale soon.
