The Dubai Film and TV Commission has slashed its location permit fees to encourage film production companies to shoot in the city.

Filming in government locations, which formerly cost up to Dh25,000 a day, will now cost up to Dh2,500,and in some instances will be free of cost with seven- to 30-day permits available.

Jamal Al Sharif, chairman of DFTC, said: “We are always looking at ways we can enhance the filming process in Dubai, and ensure that it is as efficient and cost-effective as possible. Our latest fee restructure is a direct response to feedback that we have received from our business partners and production companies regarding the cost of filming in the emirate, and part of our commitment towards ensuring a seamless filming experience. Our new fee structure and permit incorporates an extended filming period, ensuring that filmmakers and producers can enjoy more filming days for their fees.”
