The gaming industry is one of the fastest growing in the past few years – a trend that even the pandemic couldn’t slow down as most gamers simply played from home while others joined in for the first time. And now, live gaming looks to finally make its return thanks to a two-week event called Dubai EStars, which is coming to the Dubai World Trade Centre from March 26 to April 10. The event will give gamers the chance to get out and play Fortnite, Fifa 21 and Rocket League, among other games, in a fun and competitive environment where they can compete for eSport prizes. Players must be aged 12 or over. The main gaming area will host a Fortnite competition where 200 consoles will be set up as players compete on Xbox and PlayStation. The top three player scores will remain on the leaderboard and will be updated daily, with the top score winning a gold-plated PlayStation 5. Dubai EStars will follow Covid-19 safety protocols including limiting capacity to only 200 gamers per session. There will be three sessions held per day from 10am to 11am, 2.30pm to 3.30pm and 6pm to 7pm. In between, there will be cleaning and sanitation activities. Gamers must also wear masks at all times and observe social distancing. There will also be no spectator tickets and parents who accompany a child can stay in the Hang Out arena where there will be cosplay characters, while other gamers can enjoy Fifa and Rocket League. Tickets are from Dh250 for standard entry or Dh350 for VIP entry which includes a swag bag.
