Get ready for a slew of oldies but goodies performing in Dubai next month. Infusion, the nightlife and entertainment magazine, is celebrating its ninth birthday with a wealth of old-school, big-name acts. The old-school theme continues with a DJ set from Stereo MCs and MC Five Alive. The British electro-dance group formed in London in 1985 and their songs Connected and Step it Up, from their album Connected, won them Brit awards for Best Group and Best Album in 1994. Afrika Bambaataa. Also sharing the main stage is Afrika Bambaataa, the New York DJ hailed as one of the pioneers of break beat and a major influence on hip-hop culture; and the flamboyant Cuban Brothers – expect Panama hats, impressive moustaches, baggy Y-fronts, Spandex and cigars. Josh Wink. Helming the decks later on is Josh Wink (Higher State of Consciousness) who made his mark on the 1990s rave scene and is currently on tour with dates in Japan, Portugal and Spain to follow; the tech/house DJ Moodymann from Detroit; and from Baltimore, Karizma. A raft of support from local DJs includes Smokingroove, Charl Chakra, Andy Buchan and Olly Wood. It's a night not to be missed and will keep music fans content between the gaps of last weekend's Sandance and the Creamfields festival in Abu Dhabi on December 13. Infusion Magazine: We Are 9 is on Friday, December 6 at Atlantis beach, The Palm, doors from 4pm-2am, tickets from Dh250 from www.itp.net/tickets.
