Calling all filmmakers – here’s your chance to be shown at Cannes

Entries are now open for an annual short film competition – with the winning entry to be shown at next year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Presented as part of the Dubai International Film Festival (Diff), the Samsung Short Film Contest (otherwise styled as “SHRT Film Cntest”) offers valuable exposure and opportunities to aspiring filmmakers.

Ten successful entrants will be given equipment to make a short film under the guidance of renowned Emirati director Majid Al Ansari, of Zinzana fame, to be screened as part of Diff 2016, which takes place from December 7-14.

The winning entrant will visit the Cannes Film Festival in May 2017, to network and present their work at the event’s Short Film Corner.

To enter, filmmakers must enter an existing original work – of any length, genre or style – before a deadline of November 7.

Diff managing director Shivani Pandya said: “Competitions such as this are key to helping burgeoning talent release their full potential and flourish in the spotlight.

“We look forward to this competition and the new talents that may be gracing future editions of Diff.”
