Bill Nighy: I could've been Doctor Who

After Peter Capaldi signed on for the role, the 63-year-old actor Bill Nighy revealed to the UK’s

Daily Express

that he was approached to play the twelfth Doctor in the

Doctor Who

franchise, but declined.

“I didn’t want to be the Doctor. No disrespect to Doctor Who or anything, I just think that it comes with too much baggage," said Nighy.
