GQ magazine has revealed a list of "most stylish men of 2012" with the actor Daniel Craig topping the list. The actor Zac Efron is second, David Beckham third, the musician Bruno Mars fourth and the actor Ewan McGregor fifth. The Twilight star Robert Pattinson was given the sixth slot. * IANS

Prabhakaran's starts next film in January

The Tamil director SR Prabhakaran, who scored a hit with his debut comedy drama Sundarapandian, will begin working on his next project in January. "I will start my next project with Udhayanidhi Stalin and Nayantara in the lead by January end. This untitled project will be produced by Red Giant Films." The film already signed on the cinematographer M Balasubramaniem and the art director V Selvaraj. It will also feature the comedian Santhanam in a key role. Simpson confirms pregnancy via Twitter

Jessica Simpson's baby daughter Maxwell is going to be a "big sis", according to a picture that the singer tweeted late on Christmas Day. Only seven months after giving birth, Simpson confirmed the rumours by uploading a photo featuring Maxwell sitting next to the words "big sis" written in sand. The director Gauri Shinde is looking forward to the television premiere of her debut feature film English Vinglish. The movie follows a housewife and how she emerges from the shadow of her husband and family life to carve her own adventure. "Women have come up to me and said it's their own story and how some men have said that they have changed their behaviour towards their wives," she said. "That's the biggest and greatest feeling for me." The movie premieres on Zee Cinema on Saturday. * IANS

Durning, "king of character actors", dies

Charles Durning grew up in poverty, lost five of his nine siblings to disease, barely lived through D-Day and was taken prisoner at the Battle of the Bulge. His hard life and wartime trauma provided the basis for a prolific 50-year career as a consummate Oscar-nominated character actor, playing everyone from a Nazi colonel to the pope to Dustin Hoffman's would-be suitor in Tootsie. The two-time Oscar nominee, who was dubbed the king of the character actors, died at his home in Manhattan. He was 89. * AP
