[caption id="attachment_11568" align="alignright" width="300"] Culture Hub events begin With Storytelling Under The Stars[/caption] The Arjaan by Rotana in Dubai Media City has introduced its new Cultural Hub nights, aimed at stimulating and inspiring the community. Starting on Saturday October 20 with the free event Samar: Night Tales, audiences are set to be transported to a world of ancient storytelling traditions in the desert night. Five residents from around the world will take the stage at La Veranda café on the pool deck to tell of real-life experiences. Some will be inspiring, others thought-provoking, funny and reflective. As a community event, those who wish to share a story are also invited to sign up for a future night. Storytelling is a seminal tradition in many cultures not just because of its value in joining people together but also because of its importance as a method of communication, says Zaid Aladham, the marketing and communications executive of Arjaan by Rotana. “Much of what is passed on by way of telling an anecdotal story is of personal experience and people find they relate much more to a story and take in more of its value when they can imagine themselves in place of the narrator,” says Aladham. “A well-told story in the right setting leaves one thinking about it for much longer.” The event is “destined” to become the first of many, he adds, and it was a natural move to begin with an art form closest to home. “For us, this translates as a call to art because we as a hotel are ingrained in the art and culture of Arabia and see ourselves as the hosts of what could be called a 'cultural renaissance' in the region,” he says. Samar: Night Tales starts at 7pm on Saturday. Light snacks and refreshments will be served.
