David O Russell’s American Hustle, the follow-up to his acclaimed 2012 film Silver Linings Playbook, has been selected to screen at the Closing Night Gala of the forthcoming 10th edition of the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF).
The crime drama stars Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Louis C K and Robert De Niro.
It tells the story of the con man Irving Rosenfeld (Bale), who along with his equally cunning British partner and lover Sydney Prosser (Adams) is forced to work for the unhinged FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Cooper). DiMaso pushes them into a world of power brokers and mafia that’s as dangerous as it is enchanting.
DIFF will be the first festival to screen American Hustle.
“With one of the most exciting filmmakers working today at the helm, an outstanding cast and compelling story, this is a film that is set to blow audiences away and end the 10th DIFF on a high note,” said Masoud Amralla Al Ali, the DIFF’s artistic director.
The festival runs from December 6 to 14.
