It seems the chic Chinese eatery Hakkasan is living up to its reputation as the place where hungry celebrities go to dine.
A reader contacted The National today to tell us they'd seen Richard Gere enjoying a tasty dinner at the Emirates Palace restaurant last night.
Unsurprisingly, Hakkasan would not confirm whether Gere – who is the guest of honour at this evening's Abu Dhabi Film Festival opening gala – had visited the establishment. Manager Vinicio Alberelli said: "It is our policy to never confirm who has or hasn't dined at Hakkasan.
"Richard Gere is in town for the film festival, but that does not mean I am confirming he dined at our restaurant."
But we're just thankful that the meal passed off more peacefully than a recent one at a fashionable beachside diner in Long Island, US. The UK's Daily Mail newspaper alleges that Gere was involved in an altercation with a fellow diner after paying somewhat too much attention to this man's attractive blonde wife.
He may be 63 years old, but, it appears age hasn't diminished Gere's fondness for the ladies.
