The art world figure Christo attended the Friday afternoon screening at Marina Mall of Nomad of Art and The Gates , two documentaries focused on his and wife Jeanne-Claude's works. After the screening, he took questions from the packed theatre. Asked by a young Emirati man of the status of his artwork for the UAE, The Mastaba , the 77-year-old Bulgarian-born artist replied: "A project has software and hardware phases. We're now in the software phase of The Mastaba , working behind the scenes, doing presentations, meetings, talking to the people living in Al Gharbia, where the work will be built." Asked by another audience member when the work will be finished, Christo said: "If everything goes well, the project can be done in 30 months." At the end of the programme, as we all walked out of the cinema, a little girl about the age of seven approached Christo to hand him a paper flower. Her parents then asked Christo to pose for a photo with her. "She's an artist, too," her dad said. Christo just smiled.
