Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is based on the 2001 book of the same name by JK Rowling, who also wrote the film’s screenplay. A spin-off of the Harry Potter series, the film stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, an employee at the Ministry of Magic, who travels around the world researching beasts to be included in a book he writes that eventually becomes part of Harry Potter’s required reading at Hogwart’s. Fantasy film, also starring Katherine Waterston, Johnny Depp, Gemma Chan, Ezra Miller, Colin Farrell and Zoe Kravitz.

See a special tribute screening of the 2015 drama Fataat El Masnaa (Factory Girl) in memory of the Egyptian filmmaker Mohamad Khan, who passed away earlier this year. Cinema Akil and Alserkal Avenue present the film, directed by Khan, as part of the Work in Progress series. The film is about Hayam (Yasmin Raeis), a poor young woman who works in a factory, whose new supervisor becomes attracted to her. Hayam sees a chance to move up in life, but there's a price to pay.
