Register to attend two film screenings today at Manarat Al Saadiyat, presented by Cinema Space. The family-friendly animated feature The Secret of Nimh (1982) will be shown this afternoon. It tells the story of mother mouse Mrs Brisby, who must save her family by moving home, only to discover a life-changing secret. In the evening, the 1959 French film The 400 Blows (pictured) will be shown. Directed by François Truffaut, it tells the story of 12-year-old Antoine Doinel (Jean-Pierre Léaud), who is neglected at home and chooses to live on the streets of Paris.

See Almost Home featuring works by Amir H Fallah, who reflects on the idea of belonging outside of one's country of origin. In the animated film Howard Lovecraft and the Frozen Kingdom, young Howard (voiced by Kiefer O'Reilly) goes to a sanitarium to visit his father, Winfield (Tyler Nicol), who begs him to destroy a book of magic he says he never should have written. Despite his father's warning, Howard uses the book to open a portal into a dangerous, frozen world. He enters and befriends a creature named Spot (Sean Patrick O'Reilly) who takes him to a castle where Howard must face his fears to get home. The film is based on the graphic novel of the same name and is inspired by the writings of the American horror author H P Lovecraft. Animated adventure, also featuring the voices of Christopher Plummer, Jane Curtin, Doug Bradley and Ron Perlman.
