'Simple, smart ako': Chris Evans speaks Tagalog in new advert for Filipino company Smart Communications

The 'Captain America' star is the latest brand ambassador to be revealed for the telecoms provider

Chris Evans speaks Tagalog in a new advert for Smart Communications. 

Chris Evans is the first A-list Hollywood star unveiled as the new brand ambassador for Filipino telecoms major Smart Communications.

The Captain America star is front and centre in a newly uploaded two-minute advert for the telecoms company.

Evans is shown on a motorbike and dressed in all black, driving up a picturesque coastal road before stopping in what looks like a high-tech, futuristic office.

He walks through and finishes the advert with a line that includes some Tagalog. “The world is now on reset and is giving us a second chance. We have it in our hands to do better. How do I know this? Simple, smart ako.”

Evans was selected as a brand ambassador because of his active participation in relevant social issues and causes, which is in line with the company's Live Smarter for a Better World campaign.

“There’s nothing like the current challenges the world is facing to make us all realise that we are all interconnected, and that our personal actions have broader impact," said Alfredo Panlilio, president and chief executive of Smart Communications.

"Through our Live Smarter for a Better World initiative, it is our aim to create that spark in everyone to help change the world for the better rather than just settling for good."

Evans isn't the only big-name star to become a brand ambassador for the company. In February, Smart Communications also revealed an advert that starred South Korean actor Hyun Bin, most famous for his leading role in the Netflix K-drama hit Crash Landing on You.
