John Krasinski’s ‘Some Good News’ returns for a holiday special, with Dwayne Johnson, George Clooney and Justin Timberlake

John Krasinski has returned to host a holiday special episode of his hit online show, Some Good News, with a little help from some of his A-list friends.

The Jack Ryan actor was back in front of the camera to bring some festive cheer in his news show, which became a huge hit earlier this year as viewers sought solace in uplifting stories amid the chaos of 2020.

The show quickly went viral for featuring stars such as Brad Pitt and Robert De Niro, who gave weather reports, and for highlighting and compensating those who had missed out on things during quarantine.

In the festive special, Justin Timberlake puts in an appearance after Krasinski pointed out that some fan art of him closely resembled the Cry Me A River star, and wondered if it was a hint that the singer should take over hosting duties. Leading Timberlake to pop up and announce: "I'll do it."

George Clooney took over meteorology duties, declaring: "Looks pretty good", when asked to report on the weather.

Viewers were also treated to the heart-warming story of a woman who had been homeless for 20 years being given an apartment, a woman undergoing cancer treatment getting the engagement party she dreamed of, and a Dairy Queen drive thru in Minnesota where 900 people paid the food bill for the car behind them.

Good deeds for the festive season

The actor also spoke to a widowed US man, Jay Abel, who had put all his favourite belongings on eBay in order to buy Christmas presents for his children this year. Krasinski revealed he had gone onto eBay to buy all Abel’s things back for him, but that Abel had cancelled his ability to purchase them believing it to be a scam.

Abel was then surprised by a visit from "Dwanta Claus" AKA action star, Dwayne Johnson who told him: "I want you to take all of your stuff off of eBay, because Dwanta Claus is gonna take care of all of that stuff."

Adding: “I also want your kids to know what kind of father they have, so … when it’s safe, I want you to come down to southern California and I want you to visit us at the DC Universe and we’ll show you around and get you a whole bunch of cool DC swag.”

Johnson also gifted Abel his personal script to the movie Black Adam, which he's currently shooting.
