Michelle Obama is bringing a little bit of Hollywood on her trip to Qatar next week.
The first lady is being accompanied by late-night comic and talk-show host Conan O’Brien, who will entertain US troops during a visit to the al-Udeid airbase near the capital of Doha.
The vast airbase operates as an overseas headquarters for US Central Command, and hosts American bombers and support aircraft used in the air campaign against Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria.
The base is home to the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing of the US Air Force and has more than 11,000 service members stationed there.
Mrs Obama is visiting Qatar and Jordan next week, primarily to promote her girls’ global education initiative.

Electoral College Victory
Trump has so far secured 295 Electoral College votes, according to the Associated Press, exceeding the 270 needed to win. Only Nevada and Arizona remain to be called, and both swing states are leaning Republican. Trump swept all five remaining swing states, North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, sealing his path to victory and giving him a strong mandate.

The count is ongoing, but Trump currently leads with nearly 51 per cent of the popular vote to Harris’s 47.6 per cent. Trump has over 72.2 million votes, while Harris trails with approximately 67.4 million.

Changing visa rules
For decades the UAE has granted two and three year visas to foreign workers, tied to their current employer. Now that's changing.
Last year, the UAE cabinet also approved providing 10-year visas to foreigners with investments in the UAE of at least Dh10 million, if non-real estate assets account for at least 60 per cent of the total. Investors can bring their spouses and children into the country.
It also approved five-year residency to owners of UAE real estate worth at least 5 million dirhams.
The government also said that leading academics, medical doctors, scientists, engineers and star students would be eligible for similar long-term visas, without the need for financial investments in the country.
The first batch - 20 finalists for the Mohammed bin Rashid Medal for Scientific Distinction.- were awarded in January and more are expected to follow.
