Game of Thrones fans disappointed that the show's final two series have been cut from the usual 10 episodes to eight for season 7, and six for season 8, should have reason to celebrate. The show's sound designer Paula Fairfield has revealed that the season 7 finale will be 82 minutes long and suggested that all the episodes in season 8 could be a similar length. This would make each episode of the show's final season almost feature film length and bring their runtime in line with popular British shows such as Sherlock and Black Mirror. Further to this, fans worried about being short-changed should note that six 82-minute episodes would total 492 minutes of GoT, just one episode's length short of the regular 10 episodes of 55 minutes each. Fairfield was speaking at a Con of Thrones event in Nashville,Tennessee, the first dedicated GoT fan convention, before the show's return for season 7 on July 17, the same time as the US. Fans at the convention were treated to discussions and special guests from the show past and present, although leading cast members were thin on the ground as they were, presumably, busy with producer HBO's official promotions for the forthcoming series. One highlight was an appearance by Miltos Yerolemou, who played Braavosi master swordsman Syrio Forel, tutor to Arya Stark, in season 1. The actor, whose character met an uncertain fate, deftly avoided questions about the rumours he may be returning for the show’s conclusion. Game of Thrones Season 7 is scheduled to premiere on OSN First HD on July 17 at 11pm UAE time.
