CIA infiltrates Westeros: Former deputy director appears in 'Game of Thrones'

Keep your eyes peeled for a former CIA agent in the latest episode of the HBO show

America's Central Intelligence Agency has blown its own cover, as it publicly announced its former deputy director made a cameo in the latest episode of Game of Thrones.

"A perk of working for CIA is world travel," its social media team wrote on Twitter. "Apparently that sometimes extends to other realms...

"'Little birds,' be on the look-out for a former deputy director of ours wandering through #Westeros in tonight's episode of #GameofThrones." The agency also added a photo of him dressed in character.

The man in question, David S Cohen, who is now an attorney, was quick to respond: "Way to blow my cover!"

Cohen had already hinted at the bit-part earlier in the week, revealing his cameo to a journalist over Twitter. Alex Thomas wrote: "Former deputy director of the CIA, David Cohen, to appear in the second episode of Game of Thrones (no, I'm not kidding)."

Cohen replied: "You seem to have good sources in Winterfell."

In a second tweet, the former under-secretary of Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence added: "As Arya might say, 'A man has no name.'"

In response to the CIA's tweet, people unsurprisingly had plenty to say, both positive and negative. Our favourite joke came from Twitter user Mauricio Plaza, who wrote: "Oh I see who leaked the episode, clever."

Cohen appeared in the second episode of season eight, which aired in America last night. Episode three of the hit fantasy show's final season comes out on April 28.
