West End musical Evita set to entertain audiences at Dubai Opera

Dubai Opera has announced it will kick 2018 off in fine fashion with Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Evita set to tread the boards from January 22 to February 3.

The production, which tells the famous story of Eva Peron, the First Lady to Argentine president Juan Peron who dedicated her life to charity and has been heralded as the ‘spiritual leader of the nation’, will make its Dubai Opera debut following a smash-hit run in London’s West End.

Dubai audiences will be treated to 16 performances during the production's 13-day run, which combines the best of musical with award winning songs including Don't Cry For Me Argentina.

Released as a rock opera in 1976, the Tony award winning show, translated into over 14 languages, has over 40 years of success in the West End and Broadway.

The Broadway Entertainment Group, who has partnered with Dubai Opera is excited about its foray into the UAE. "Following on from the phenomenal successful seasons of Andrew Lloyd Webber's CATS at Dubai Opera, Broadway Entertainment Group is delighted to be presenting with Dubai Opera, this renowned musical classic," says Broadway Entertainment Group CEO Liz Koops. "Evita, this iconic musical is sure to delight and wow audiences."

Jasper Hope, Chief Executive at Dubai Opera commented: "I am delighted that we will welcome this sensational production of Evita to Dubai Opera with its scintillating score incorporating classic Latin tangos and pasos dobles. Love her or hate her, there's no doubting the impact of this incredible woman's story on Argentina and the world".
