Here's a look at the shows coming to Dubai Opera from the Russian State Opera: The Russian State Opera begins its Dubai run with this achingly romantic ballet choreographed by award-winning Bolshoi Ballet soloist Konstantin Ivanov. After falling in love with the dashing Prince Albrecht, the story follows the peasant and sickly Giselle as she falls down a rabbit hole of jealousy and heartbreak. Faced by his betrayal, Albrecht beseeches Giselle's spirit for forgiveness or face damnation. Taking on one of the cherish pieces in the opera cannon, written by Bizet, Carmen chronicles the rise and downfall of the naive soldier Don Jose, who falls under the seductive and ruthless charms of the adventurous Carmen. Full of memorable melodies and lush orchestration, Carmen boasts the Toreador, which is widely held as one of opera's finest aria. Be prepared for a passionate evening of love and betrayal. The third and last production by the Russian State Opera comes with a regional twist. Composed by Verdi, Aida is set in ancient Egypt and centres on the love story between the title character, who is the Princess of Ethiopia, and the stoic Egyptian general Radames. With the Egyptian king demanding a war with Ethiopia, Aida must choose between her lover and country. Aida is also home to the powerful first act aria Se quel Guerrier io fossi. All tickets start from Dh300.
