Arab Idol Mohammed Assaf and Jordanian singer-songwriter Omar Al Abdallat are set to take the stage at Al Majaz Amphitheatre on Friday, January 10. The duo, known for their repertoire of popular Arabic songs, will perform as part of the new season of #letsmajaz, which will host a number of other top Arab and international music artists until April 2020. Assaf, a Palestinian pop singer who won the second season of Arab Idol, is not a stranger to the Sharjah amphitheatre. He performed at last year's #letsmajaz in a sold-out concert alongside Lebanese singer Ragheb Alama. He also previously took on the lead role in the Clusters of Light musical staged in 2014. His setlist will include a selection of his popular numbers as well as Palestinian folk renditions. Al Abdallat, who popularized Bedouin music, is set to perform a number of his greatest hits. The artist has had a career spanning more than 30 years and is best known for penning some of the most iconic Jordanian patriotic songs. Other artists that have been announced so far include Iraqi musician and composer Ilham Al Madfai and Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi. Capaldi excitedly announced his first UAE concert on his Instagram page recently, saying: “Buzzing to announce my first ever show in the UAE. Can’t wait to get over.” The Al Majaz Amphitheatre has emerged as one of the UAE’s most popular cultural and entertainment destination since it opened in March 2014. The Dh120 million facility was designed based on Roman amphitheatre design. It covers an area of 7,238 square metres and can accommodate up to 4,500 people. Friday, January 10, Dh100; doors open at 7pm, show starts at 9pm; Al Majaz Amphitheatre, Sharjah, sharjah.platinumlist.net
