We posed the question last month, and now it's been confirmed that Maroon 5 will be the first music act to play at City Walk's new Coca-Cola Arena. Rumours have been swirling about the American pop-rock band's return to Dubai this summer, but without any idea of when or where they would play. That information has now been confirmed by Done Events, who have confirmed to The National that the This Love hitmakers will play at the newly named Coca-Cola Arena in City Walk on June 14. It will be the first time the band has played in the UAE since 2011. Early-bird tickets are available for those who have pre-registered until 5pm today, and tickets will go on sale to the general public from 6pm. Dubai Arena recently became the Coca-Cola Arena, after developer Meraas signed a 10-year deal with the The Coca-Cola Company. The agreement with the US company includes exclusive naming rights for what is set to be Dubai's first and largest indoor, multipurpose arena – due to open in June this year. Comedian Russell Peters will open the arena with its first event a week earlier on June 6. The return of Maroon 5 to the Emirates has been the cause of speculation for a while now. In an article published on Sunday, March 24, The National's music critic Saeed Saeed wrote: "According to multiple international industry sources, the American pop-rock group, led by front-man Adam Levine, will be heading to Dubai as part of their upcoming European tour. “With the group's run of shows beginning in Denmark on June 1 and finishing in Paris on June 11, we should expect Maroon 5 to touch down in the emirate at the end of the tour. The holy month of Ramadan will end around June 4. "And, with the summer heat rendering any outdoor show in Dubai a virtual impossibility, not to mention the imminent announcement of Dubai Arena's opening series of shows, we think Maroon 5 could be the band to open up the anticipated new venue."
