Abu Dhabi Classics will return next month with a pair of shows by the Russian National Orchestra. The Grammy award winning group, who hail from Moscow, will make their way to the Cultural Foundation for concerts that will kick off the live music series. More concerts from Abu Dhabi Classics will be announced soon. Under the baton of acclaimed conductor Mikhail Pletnev, the Russian National Orchestra will deliver a programme that is mostly dedicated to 19th and 20th century Russian composers. On Thursday, October 10, the orchestra will take on Shostakovich's 1933's <em>Concerto in C minor for Piano, Trumpet and String Orchestra</em>. The following night, Friday, October 11, will find the orchestra perform the much-loved <em>5th Symphony</em> by Tchaikovsky. Also on the programme that night is Alexander Glazunov's music for the ballet <em>The Seasons</em> and two pieces, <em>Ancestor Suite</em> and <em>Homework Suite,</em> by contemporary North American composer Gordon Getty. Joining the orchestra each night is one of classical music’s rising stars, Lucas Debargue. The French pianist made himself known within the industry after winning the fourth prize at the 2015 International Tchaikovsky Competition. Ever since he went on to play high profile solo recitals and chamber music concerts in prestigious halls, such as Russia's Mariinsky Theatre Concert Hall, Paris's Theatre de Champs Elysees and the Milan Conservatory. He arrives to the capital days ahead of the release of his new album <em>Coffret, 4 CD</em>, which contains 52 sonatas by the by 18th century Italian baroque composer Domenico Scarlatti. <em>Russian National Orchestra with Lucas Debargue.
