Adele says she 'regrets' postponing Las Vegas residency and addresses engagement rumours

The star opened up about her postponed Vegas residency during an appearance on 'The Graham Norton Show'

Adele has opened up about her regret at postponing her Las Vegas residency.

In January, the star announced the residency would be postponed one day before the first show was due to take place, in a teary video posted on social media.

And during an appearance on the British talk show, The Graham Norton Show, on Friday, the Grammy-winning singer said she regretted cancelling so last minute.

“I tried my hardest and really thought I would be able to pull something together in time,” she said. “I regret that I kept going until that late in the day.”

“It would have been a really half-... [baked] show and I can’t do that,” she continued. “People will see straight through me up on the stage and know I didn’t want to be doing it.

“I’ve never done anything like that in my life and I’m not going to start now.”

The star received criticism from fans who had spent money on flights and hotels in Las Vegas ahead of the show, which they were unable to get back owing to the short notice of the cancellation.

The Hello singer, 33, said her team were working hard to make the show a reality, but she did not want to release new dates “until I know everything will definitely be ready”.

“The sooner I can announce the better, but I just can’t in case we are not ready in time,” she said.

She also confirmed the residency would be “100 per cent” going ahead this year.

“It is absolutely 100 per cent happening this year,” she said. “It has to happen this year because I’ve got plans for next year. Imagine if I have to cancel because I am having a baby.”

Adele has said she “regrets” postponing her Las Vegas residency so “late in the day”.

Adele also addressed engagement rumours on the show, after she was spotted wearing a diamond ring during her recent appearance at the Brit Awards.

However, she did little to dispel or confirm the news, saying: “If I was, would I ever tell anyone if I was or wasn’t?”

Adele is currently in a relationship with US sports agent Rich Paul.
