Vox Cinemas will launch sensory-friendly screening options across the UAE in partnership with the Dubai Autism Centre on Saturday, January 16. Guests with sensory sensitivities may find the typical cinema environment stressful, so the sensory-friendly offering aims to make the experience safer and more comfortable by keeping the auditorium lights on and dimmed throughout the film. Audio levels will also be lowered, while advertisements and trailers that traditionally precede the film will be removed. The cinema will admit a reduced number of people during the special screenings, and families will be allowed to bring their own food if they have any special dietary needs. Once launched, the sensory-friendly experience will be available every Saturday from 12pm at Vox cinemas across Mall of the Emirates, Yas Mall, City Centre Sharjah, City Centre Fujairah, Al Jimi Mall and City Centre Ajman. Tickets for the experience are set at Dh45. Children aged three and below can go for free. Benjamin the Elephant will be the first film showing. The family comedy tells the story of the adventures of a hulking, but good-natured elephant, and his best friend Otto.
