It is not uncommon for Bollywood to take on Hollywood films, with big-budget remakes and adaptations of old favourites from the US film industry. Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan star in Josh (2000), which is a take on the classic musical West Side Story; Kamal Haasan directed and starred in Chachi 420 (1997), a retelling of the Robin Williams classic Mrs Doubtfire; and Hum Tum (2004), starring Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji, is loosely based on Nora Ephron's When Harry Met Sally. The retelling treatment is not limited to Hollywood classics, either. Zinda (2006), starring Sanjay Dutt, is inspired by Park Chan-wook's South Korean thriller Oldboy, for example. However, one Twitter user has their sights set on a much grander project than simply retelling one film at a time. Instead, they have recast the Marvel universe with Bollywood household names. "Bollywood actors as Marvel characters. A thread," writes Twitter user @sufyc10, before recasting Robert Downey Jr's character Iron Man with Shah Rukh Khan, Chris Evans's Captain America with Hrithik Roshan, Chris Hemsworth's Thor with John Abraham, Josh Brolin's Thanos with Salman Khan, Mark Ruffalo's Hulk with Aamir Khan, Tom Holland's Spider-Man with Varun Dhawan and Samuel L Jackson's Nick Fury with Amitabh Bachchan. Each of the tweets are accompanied with photos of the two stars mentioned, which in every case backs up the suggestion. In total, @sufyc10 made 25 Bollywood recasting suggestions, with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan suggested to play Zoe Saldana's Gamora, Priyanka Chopra as Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow and Ranveer Singh as Sebastian Stan's Winter Soldier. The suggestions were warmly received by fellow film fans on Twitter. "This is spot on," wrote @HassanNatha, an opinion echoed by @SteveD_CCGames who said: "All your choices are spot on." Other fans have suggested that @sufyc10 gives Star Wars and the DC universe the same Bollywood treatment. The National has reached out to @sufyc10 for comment
