The first poster for the new Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie has been revealed – and fans are pretty unanimous in their dislike for it. The movie poster was released on Monday night, and the immediate fan reactions have a consistent feel. Many were left wondering if the movie is a real thing, or a weird, elaborate and badly timed April Fool's joke that has gone out of hand. The poster shows a silhouette of the speedy blue gaming icon, in a stance resembling short-distance runners on their marks at the Olympics, with much detail given to the shape of the beloved hedgehog’s arms and legs. Trying to portray a speedy blue hedgehog on the big screen was always going to be a challenge. The movie boasts acting talent the likes of Jim Carrey and James Marsden, with Ben Schwartz (of Parks and Recreation fame) as the voice of the fast-talking, fast-moving Sega mascot. The film, which is slated for a December 2019 release, is currently in post-production. It remains to be seen what the character will look like on screen, but for now, it seems gamers will only gain more meme fuel from it. It seems we will have to wait for the first trailer to drop to see if there's any change in reaction to the film. ____________________ Read more: Can Rampage break the streak of video game adaptation duds? 'Avengers: Endgame' sets record as most watched trailer in 24 hours 7 takeaways from the new 'Avengers: Endgame' trailer
