Peter ‘Star Lord’ Quill’s Hero helmet, Thor’s hammer and Jack Nicholson’s Joker outfit are among the top-priced items set to go under the hammer at a movie memorabilia auction in London next month – and the auction will also be live-streamed online for those unable to make it to the UK.
The auction itself will take place at the British Film Institute’s Imax Cinema at Waterloo’s Odeon Cinemas from noon on Tuesday September 26, while a free exhibition of the items up for sale will be open to would-be bidders, and members of the public, from September 7 until the day of the auction. The exhibition will open daily from 10am-9.30pm in the same location.
The Star Lord helmet, worn by Chris Pratt in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, tops the current guide price list of featured items, with an expected sale price of £30-50,000 (Dh142,000 - Dh238,000) closely followed by Chris Hemsworth's hammer from 2011's Thor and Nicholson's costume from Tim Burton's 1989 version of the Batman story, both predicted to raise £20-30,000, as is Sir Ian McKellan's Magneto costume from 2000's X-Men. Those looking for a memento a little easier on the pocket could potentially pick up Christopher Reeve's tunic from 1987's Superman IV for a bargain £8-10,000.
