The first official pictures of Ryan Reynolds in Abu Dhabi have just been released, with shooting on the Netflix movie 6 Underground under way (with filming on Reem Island likely to begin today). The film is being billed as a character-driven "edgy thriller", and is from the writers of Deadpool, so we can expect plenty of acerbic humour. The photos of the cast and crew, which were released by twofour54, seem to have been taken from the Four Seasons Al Maryah Island, or a nearby hotel, with Abu Dhabi's downtown skyline in the background. The other thing we now know about the film is that Ryan Reynolds will likely be sporting a beard in it - breaking news. More than 300 cast and crew will spend 30 days filming in four UAE locations: Liwa desert, Abu Dhabi city, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah. “Shooting in Abu Dhabi is going to be one of the highlights of this production, although you’ll have to wait until the movie hits Netflix to find out why," said Reynolds. "We’ve only been here a few days so far, but the welcome from everyone has been amazing and I can’t wait to explore Abu Dhabi more.” Action director Michael Bay, who's known for The Rock and the Transformers franchise, had this to say about shooting in the UAE's capital: "Abu Dhabi is a unique place to make a movie, with a lot of great looks. It's got the diversity and architecture I need in front of the camera - plus the professional facilities, crew and infrastructure to back it up. I'm very excited to be shooting here over the next few weeks." The film features a host of other Hollywood stars, including Dave Franco, Melanie Laurent, Corey Hawkins, Adria Arjona, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Ben Hardy, Payman Maadi and Lior Raz, star of the Israeli Netflix hit Fauda. Casting calls have also been issued for a multinational bevy of local talent to fill in supporting roles. _______________ Read more: More on the UAE shoot for '6 Underground' Six Underground starring Ryan Reynolds to be shot in Abu Dhabi Is this new casting call for the incoming Michael Bay/Ryan Reynolds Netflix flick '6 Underground?' Film review: Deadpool 2 is rated 'R' for riot _______________
