Continuing its run of live-action remakes, Disney is set to reimagine the 1997 animated classic Hercules. According to reports, Hercules is the next Disney tale to be brought to life, with a team including The Lion Kings's Jeffrey Silver and Karen Gilchrist on board as producers, and the Russo Brothers (Avengers: Endgame) potentially directing. Rumours of a Hercules remake had been swirling for months, with talk of a new adaptation being announce a Dinsey's annual conference in June 2019, but that did not happen. However, the remake has now been confirmed, sending fans of the original animated film into a frenzy online, speculating who could be cast to star in the film. Fans are already pegging Ariana Grande for the part of Meg, following the former Disney star's recent performance of I Won't Say I'm In Love from movie's soundtrack for ABC Family's Disney Family Singalong. Hercules tells the story of the eponymous Greek mythological figure, and became a firm family favourite thanks to its witty one-liners and upbeat soundtrack. It is not yet clear whether the live-action remake will follow the format of Aladdin and include the original songs, or will take the form of a music-less production, like upcoming Mulan.
