Netflix made history as the nominations for the 26th Critics' Choice Awards were announced on Monday, as the streaming giant made up four out of the 10 nominees for Best Picture – a record number for any studio in these awards since they began in 1995.
Mank leads the way this year with 12 nods, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay. The Netflix comedy drama re-examines 1930s Hollywood as Herman J Mankiewicz races to finish Citizen Kane.
Korean film Minari is not far behind with 10 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Foreign Language Film and Best Acting Ensemble. The semi-autobiographical film tells the story of a Korean family moving to Arkansas in the 1980s.
Netflix's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom received eight nods, including a posthumous Best Actor nomination for Chadwick Boseman, who was also nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category for his turn in Spike Lee's Da 5 Bloods.
Netflix garnered 46 film nominations in total, adding to the 26 nods it received in the television arm of the Critics' Choice Awards, which were announced in January.
The Critics' Choice Awards will take place on March 8. See the full list of film nominations below:
