The Avengers have faced off against some of the universe’s deadliest foes over the last decade and 22 films. They’ve faced mad Titans, schizophrenic artificial intelligence programmes and even Andy Serkis without the power of motion capture. Their latest challenge could be the toughest yet however. Marvel has released a video online featuring Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier), Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson/Falcon), Letitia Wright (Shuri), and Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange) being locked in an Avengers: Endgame-themed escape room by none other than game master and Endgame director Joe Russo. The four must swiftly assemble to solve the clues, find the infinity stones, and battle their way out before the 45-minute timer exists and they are presumably “snapped” The good folks at Marvel have helpfully edited down the challenge to around five minutes of highlights, so you don’t have to watch a full 45 minutes of the team scratching their heads and wondering what to do next, though given that many fans have already given the three-hour-plus film repeated viewing in theatres, they’d probably do so quite willingly. One interesting observation that comes through in the video is how close the relationships between the movie’s cast appear to have become, perhaps understandably after appearing in a total of 22 films together over the course of 11 years. The team could easily just be a group of friends out for a bit of fun rather than some people who have shared time on a movie set. Avengers: Endgame is still in cinemas this weekend, and likely to remain there for some weekends to come. The movie has already taken the title of the UAE's highest-grossing film with over Dh40m taken so far, while globally it has cleared $2Bn in record-breaking time and looks on course to overtake Avatar as the highest-grossing film in cinema history. If you’re not in the mood for another repeated viewing this weekend, or simply need a quick pick-me-up after the film's bittersweet ending, check out our heroes’ escape room, abilities instead.
