Feed the body while feeding the intellect

Learn to bake bread, make a salad or decorate vegan cupcakes as local and international chefs set up stalls at the literary festival.
Cuisines from the Middle East, India, Pakistan and the UK will be on display when the fair's culinary programme, including live demonstrations, begins today.
• Dalal Kanj, the owner of Les Delices De Dalal in Lebanon, will whip up traditional Arabic fare.
• Anahid Doniguian, the author of Anahid's Gourmet Cookbook, which features more than 800 traditional Armenian and international recipes, will share her food travel experiences and is scheduled to conduct two sessions, Fan el Tabekh el Jadid (the art of new cooking) and Soufrat Anahid Lil Regime Al Sohhi (Anahid's table of healthy food).
• The pastry chef Hanouf Mahmoud Al Balhan from Kuwait will be creating dishes with Indian, Chinese and Italian influences. Along with her, Arafat Jawad Al Arbash will treat visitors to her Kuwaiti dishes including mains, desserts and salads.
• Kebabs, soups and cakes with Persian flavours will be on the Iranian chef Jamshid Golshan Ebrahimi's menu at the fair.
• There are Indian booths, too, led by the celebrity Indian chefs Sanjeev Kapoor and Vicky Ratnani.
• From the UK, Ms Cupcake will introduce visitors to vegan-baking techniques.
• Sam Stern, the 23-year-old UK-based ­celebrity chef and the author of Cooking Up a Storm: The Teen Survival ­Cookbook, will offer pointers on rustling up inexpensive, healthy meals. The book is on sale at the fair.
