Reza Derakshani to inaugurate a new London gallery

The fabulously talented Reza Derakshani is the artist in focus for the opening of one of London's newest galleries this week. For the inaugural exhibition of Sophia Contemporary Gallery, Derakshani will present new works from a range of ongoing series including the Hunting series. Whilst Derakshani's practice is grounded in Iranian artistic traditions, his generous brushstrokes reveal the influence of the textured surfaces from Western abstract art movements.

Having exhibited several times in Dubai and being part of many public art collections, Derakshani’s work is sure to be well received in the UK capital.

Sophia Contemporary Gallery will open The Breeze at Dawn on March 9 and it will run until April 23. There will be a fully illustrated catalogue for The Breeze at Dawn, with the preface written by the former Exhibition Secretary of the Royal Academy of Arts, Norman Rosenthal.
