Over the last fifteen years, art has been deeply inflected by the rise of the internet as a mass cultural and socio-political medium, while also responding to urgent economic and political events, from the financial crisis of 2008 to the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. These subjects are the focus of Melissa Gronlund's book Contemporary Art and Digital Culture, which will be launched next week in Dubai.
Published by Routledge, the book analyses the impact of the internet and digital technologies upon art today and the author will be in conversation with Kevin Jones, a well known art critic, to talk about some of the issues and artists covered in the book including Hito Steyerl, Mark Leckey, Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Seth Price, Jesse Darling, Ed Atkins and Bouchra Khalili.
The launch will happen on Tuesday, February 21 at 7pm at Alserkal Avenue's A4 space in Dubai. To see the book on Amazon click here
