Artists from several different disciplines will be showcased in a pavilion dedicated to the GCC at this weekend’s Meet d3 event. The work of 13 young, innovative and progressive artists and designers from the GCC region will be on display and will include design installation, furniture, sculpture, music, film and fashion.
Curated and produced by Rami Farook, a multidisciplinary artist and producer and Nanu Al-Hamad, a Kuwaiti artist and designer the pavilion is titled KHALEEJ2016 and is a celebration of diversity and unity within the region’s artistic community.
There will be performance from Amal Waqar, an Omani oud player who will play a variety of folk melodies and self composed melodies. Kawther Al Saffar will be showcasing work from her brand ‘Saffar’ which focuses on developing crafts in Kuwait and challenge the definition of luxury. In a collaboration between Nanu Al-Hamad and Gregory Ketant, Powerhouse will explore the use of architecture and design as a vehicle for self-transformation. There will be jewellery on display by Emirati Alia bin Omair and a video installation from Hamida Issa, a Qatari film maker on a trip to Antarctica.
Meet d3 is public event in Dubai celebrating all things creative. This immersive multidisciplinary event features large-scale installations, retail and food concepts, music and other special commissions suitable for all ages. A platform for the city’s creative industries, Meet d3 brings together designers, artists, musicians, architects and other industry related practitioners from the region and beyond.
